Kapalakiko I Ke Aloha began in 1984, dedicated to preserving, perpetuating and promoting the authentic culture of Hawai‘i. We strive to educate as well as entertain.
Over the years, the organization has sponsored ukulele classes and workshops, quarterly newsletters, and cultural preservation projects. Our Kapalakiko Band performs regularly throughout the Bay Area, sharing traditional songs from our beloved islands.
Currently, we are focused on capturing the spirit and legacy of our founder and band leader, Saichi Kawahara, in a documentary film, due to be completed in 2018. For it is in the music that the stories of Hawaii will continue to live in our hearts.
